Lady's Regency period ankle boots.
A very detailed reproduction of a Fine lady's boot from the period 1815-20. Made in Fine kid leather, or woolen cloth. Click on the detailed discription for more info and photos.
This finely detailed reproduction shoe is also copied from an original in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
The original shoe is shown on the colour plate on page 63 of the book SHOES by Lucy Pratt and Linda Woolley, part of the Victoria and Albert Museum Fashion Accessoris series.
Our reproduction is as close to the original as I can get. All 44 eyelets are bound with thread, and all edges are finished with gros grain binding as is the original shoe. A low heel and a sturdy leather sole finishes the impression. These shoes are very good for outdoor wear at re-enactments.
These shoes are available in a fawn ( light brown / tan ) kid leather. This is the same colour as the original. Other colours available in kid leather are cream, black, burgundy, medium brown, and dark forest green. These are also available in a fawn coloured wool. The woolen shoes are exellent for summer wear and were a very common shoe. All these shoes are lined with cotton cloth. Ladies had needle skills and it was not uncommon at all for a lady to sew together the uppers of her shoes and have the shoemaker bottom ( put the soles on ) them.
